W.R. Grace is committed to environmental
responsibility - from developing products and operations that are cleaner, to
minimizing waste, reclaiming land and reaching out to employees and
communities with information. GRACE also seeks input from the community
in which we operate, business associates, government agencies and any others
who share our concern for the environment and for
safety.
Responsible Care™
Grace operates under the concept
of Responsible Care, an initiative developed by the
American Chemistry Council (ACC).
In 1988, the Board and member
companies of the ACC launched Responsible Care to
respond to public concerns about the manufacture and
use of chemicals.
Through Responsible Care member
companies are committed to support a continuing effort to improve the
industry's responsible management of chemicals. Responsible Care
requires member companies to :
-
Improve
performance in health, safety and environmental quality,
-
Listen
and respond to public concerns,
-
Assist
each other to achieve optimum performance,
-
Report
their progress to the public,
Two aspects of Responsible Care
make it unique. First, ACC member companies
must participate in Responsible Care™ as an obligation of membership in the
Association. Secondly, through a Public Advisory Panel, the public is
directly involved in shaping the initiative.
The health and safety of our
employees, customers and communities and the protection of the environment are
among our most critical concerns. It is our policy to conduct business
in compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws and
with Grace's own tougher standards. We will endeavour to provide a
safe and healthful workplace, protect the environment, and ensure that these
issues are given full consideration in the planning
and operation of all Grace activities.
